Spinal Stenosis Symptoms
Spinal Stenosis Symptoms are a rarity for those who have this condition. In fact, most people who are afflicted by spinal stenosis aren't even aware that they have it. Symptoms only develop when the narrowing in the spine becomes so severe that a nerve root or the spinal cord is impinged upon. However, when this does occur, the symptoms can be extremely severe and can make even once–simple tasks like taking a walk seem undoable, impeding a person from living a fulfilling life.
Spinal stenosis symptoms can include:
- Tingling
- Numbness
- Pain
- Weakness
- Muscle spasms
- Headaches
- More
The area in which the symptoms are felt depends on the location of the narrowing in the spine. For example, if the narrowing occurs in the C2 vertebrae, which is part of the cervical spine, and puts pressure on a nerve root, symptoms will be felt in the neck, upper back, and/or arms. Narrowing in the L3 vertebrae, which is part of the lumbar spine, will cause symptoms in the lower back, buttocks, and/or legs.
